Timed … captured on July 2, 2009 - LX3
We've been putting this off for far too long. I remember using a timer with Matthew; it never went over very well but, it was necessary. And so it is for Marina who, as far as I can tell, is far worse than the Lad ever was. This girl can devote 5 minutes to a spec of dust on the dinner table and let me tell you, there's a lot of dust to go around in this house.
Breakfast is usually the longest because she's not much of a morning person. She's typically the first person at the breakfast table, and the last to leave. Dinner isn't usually much better, particularly if she doesn't like what's been served which, lately, is almost everything. And let's not forget how much of a chatterbox this girl is. Why, at dinnertime there's a WHOLE day that's just passed that we can talk about.
So tonight we started up Jennifer's jTouch (see what I did there? Instead of iTouch, jTouch. Clever, huh?) and I set the timer to 5 minutes and placed it down in front of the Wee-One. After a quick explanation that the time would count down to zero, she started eating her rice and chicken. Quickly, with a cocked eyebrow and a wary gaze toward the table. She's never been so focused on eating dinner. Of course, I don't know that this will work in the long run but hopefully, she won't be sitting at the dinner table 30 minutes after we've all left.

I had that problem with her meals too! I just thought it was because Grandpapa was around and no Mom or Dad.

What a clever idea to have a timer! Would like to see the dinner time in action. Will you be bringing it on holiday?
