Slick Helmutt's … captured on June 24, 2010 – LX3
I've written enough embarrassing entries featuring the kids, it seems only fair that I write one about myself. And despite the many stories that I could write about, I'll stick with the most recent occurence. Unfortunately, there is no photographic evidence (this inline photo is totally unrelated) so you'll need to use your i-m-a-g-i-n-a-t-i-o-n.
We were returning home from one of the many soccer games of late or from a shopping expedition; either way, the sun was low in the sky and for relief, I pulled down the visor to shield it. That's when a spider slowly slid down a gossamer thread, between my clenched hands which gripped the steering wheel. The little fella—and I could take this opportunity to embellish the story with a slight exaggeration, but there's no need—landed on the seat between my legs, before scurrying into an opening in my shorts.
I trust you can imagine the bouncing I did as he worked his way up. Vehicles around us probably wondered what the hell was going on and the kids thought this was the funniest thing I've ever done.
A few days ago, Matthew spotted a spider on Jennifer's side of the van. He's waiting for me. I can tell.
Eeeeyaghh! There would have been a major accident if it had been me. Spiders freak me out. BTW, that's where I used to buy food and other supplies for the Lovely Rita!

Although most spiders are small in size, they can put a scare in you, especially when they appear out of nowhere!
