Duo Donkeys … captured on June 20, 2010 – 5D
Matthew's team played a great game tonight, scoring a goal in the first half. Not long afterward though, the other team slipped through the defense and a lone striker put the ball over Matthew's shoulder. The game stayed even until the last play of the match when one of our boys—Adam—was fouled in the box as he broke away with the ball. He looked hurt, but picked himself and brushed himself off. The referee pointed to the spot for a penalty kick. Adam sized up the keeper and took his shot, beating him and scoring a second goal. Our lads won their first game of the season!
As we dished out the post-game snacks, the coach asked if anyone could help out for a few games in July. Matthew pushed me forward, so I volunteered. The coach then asked if I'd be interested in helping out further, as assistant coach. Matthew nodded vigourously and so, I accepted. Later, as we piled into the van, I asked him why he wanted me to volunteer. He answered: "Because you're a good coach."
Talk about a confidence booster.
I just hope I don't make an ass of myself. See how I tied it into the picture? Okay, I agree, it's a stretch but I knew Joy would like the donkeys.
You are soooooooo right, Mike. Unfortunately, we cannot have the real thing…sigh. So glad the soccer is going along so well.

I told you earlier that with patience and persistence there would come a win. You will do well as a coach; your knowledge of the game and dedication to what you do will make help the team. Matthew knows this.
