First Run Back | data gathered on August 23, 2011
Apologies to all my fellow Torontonians. That shaking you felt yesterday afternoon wasn't the Virginia earthquake; it was just me running for the first time since March.
All kidding aside, I felt pretty energized 45 minutes after my post-run yoga session and a shower. I can't say the the run went very well (if you look at the graphic above, you'll see a not-so-smiley face which means sluggish). I was pretty disappointed with the fact that I had to revert all the way back to doing one-and-ones (that's one minute of running and one walking, hence the sine wave in the graph above). I had fully expected I could go 2 or 3 minutes without a break, but my lungs thought differently.
Oh well, at least the hard part is done…I've started. Again.
Hopefully, I can keep it up although winter is always so tricky. The plan is to run (and do post-run yoga) thrice weekly which should just about do to shed this extra bit off the front. I feel like I'm walking around with a kevlar vest under my t-shirt; I look like a security guard without all the responsibility.
There's one thing about exercise that is most difficult, one must keep at it and once you get away from it for a while, you have to start from the beginning. I've been exercising for most of my life, I lift light weights seven days a week, I walk half and hour twice a day and I even stop for a weekend, I feel it the nest day.

Good for you, Mike , 'tho I didn't notice all the extra weight you are mentioning! There always seems to be so much discipline involved where exercise is concerned - that's the hard bit..
