Back to School | captured on September 6, 2011
The air is certainly cool and the traffic, snarled. The crossing guards are out in force, blowing their whistles with a vigour that comes only in September. The kids are excited and the parents look relieved. All the indicators are there and yet, it just doesn't feel right.
It's no secret that this time of year is one of my favourites. I can't tell you why exactly but I think it's a confluence of cooler weather and the sense of a new beginning. Except this year, that sense is missing. Ironic, considering that's exactly where I'm at. Perhaps the feeling is simply delayed; we'll have to see.
The kids, on the other hand, are right there in it. The instant we hit the schoolyard, they were off like a shot to find their friends leaving Jennifer and I on the sidelines like all the other parents. Marina met up with Eva, her "bestest" friend whom she hadn't seen all summer. Matthew found his chums; the lot of them looking like wannabe rap stars with their hoodies and flat caps. Amidst the hustle and bustle, we managed to say goodbye before they were off to start a new year; grades 5 and 2 respectively.
Exciting times indeed!
Grades 5 and 2....!!!!! What happened to kindergarten??????? Where does the time go.
Beginning of a school year - always an exciting time for all.
btw it will happen for you, Mike...just hang in there.....

Fall has always been special to me also, the weather as main reason for it, it will soon be time for winter where Nature will sleep and regain her strength. Spring is a time of renew, birth and preparation for the beautiful summer growths. I'm sure however that you will soon find what your looking for, just keep working at it, do not despair, it will come as it always does for those who work as I know you are. Lovely photo of sweet Marina, you see she waited all summer and found an old friend, it's the way it is.
